Cambodia – Saudi Arabia Agree To Create a Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism and To Enhance Flight Connectivity

(Phnom Penh): In a talk with H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of the Ministry of Tourism; Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Viet Nam – Cambodia Mr. Saud F.M Suwelim agreed to the request of preparing a Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation to contribute in enhancing this significant sector to continue further development. The discussion was conducted at the office of the Ministry of Tourism, in the evening of 02 October 2019, in which Minister Thong Khon further requested Mr. Ambassador of – Saudi Arabia to make direct flight available from Saudi Arabia to Cambodia, through the transition in any neighboring country.

Mr. Ambassador stressed further that this point, on the side of Saudi Arabia has been working with Vietnamese aviation companies to speed up the flight from Saudi Arabia to Cambodia, by transiting in Hanoi International Airport. Minister also asked to have study tour (Fam Trip) of reporters, investors and tourists from Saudi Arabia to Cambodia, and Cambodia promised to do so in order to exchange the visits on the mutual tourism sector. Beside this, Cambodian side also asked to have connectivity of cruise ship from Saudi Arabia to Preah Sihanouk city of Cambodia to receive further tours from there and can go beyond to visit Angkor Temple in Siem Reap province. Mr. Ambassador Saud F.M Suwelim received the request in order to forward to his Royal Government.

Minister Thong Khon informed Mr. Saud F.M Suwelim further that Cambodia is preparing Halal Food for welcoming and serving for Islam tourists’ demands; while Cambodia is having peace and political stability throughout the nation which is the aspiration of tourists. Please be noted that the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding on above Tourism Cooperation, Minister Thong Khon managed task forces in skilled departments to mutually cooperate in drafting this memorandum in order to be ready for mutual signing when having visiting of heads of the royal government of the two nations, or at any convenience time in day to come.
