Ministry of Tourism and French Agency for Development to Advance the Development of Kampot, Battambang and Kratie Cities as the Secondary Urban Tourism Destination
(Phnom Penh): The Ministry of Tourism and the French Agency for Development (AFD) pledged to promote the project implementation “Inclusive City” for the cities in the three provinces, including: Kampot, Battambang and Kratie province to be as the Secondary Urban Tourism Destination, after the main tourist destinations of Cambodia; for instance, Siem Reap Angkor, the Capital of Phnom Penh and the coastal areas. This point was raised on the occasion of H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism allowed Mr. Philippe Sternmetz, Citing director of the French Agency for Development to Cambodia to meet for works discussion at the office of the Ministry of Tourism, in the evening of 31 July 2019 to get recommendations from the ministry on the studying the possibilities of the above project. H.E Thong Khon provided the support for the above project which previously the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture and Fines Art, UNESCO have cooperated each other in organizing the above three cities development to be as the tourism, heritage cultural cities and as the secondary tourism destination as well.
To ensure for longer staying of international tourists, visited Cambodia is needed to have a sustainable and inclusive development. H.E. Minister Thong Khon and President of a delegation highly valued for the cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and French Agency for Development in the previous time, and pledged to jointly continue improving a stronger mutual cooperation to develop a greater tourism sector, and to play a major role in the contribution to the sustainable and inclusive Cambodian economic growth – especially to advance better national – international tourists growth, and to extend their longer stay
