Ministry of Tourism Opens Technical Working Group Meeting for Discussing on Guideline Draft on Green Travel Bubble
(Phnom Penh): Sok Sokretya, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Tourism and as President of Green Travel Bubble Working Group and high representative to H.E. Dr. THONG Khon, Minister of Tourism, chaired a technical working group for coordinating “Green Travel Bubble” to view and discuss on the draft “Green Travel Bubble Guideline”. The meeting was held at the office of the Ministry of Tourism, in the morning of 13 October 2020. The guideline on the Green Travel Bubble is scheduled to official launch in the soon coming time or longest by the end of first quarter of 2021, by the first step, the working group needs to consult and get an agreement from the inter-Ministerial Committee for Combating Covid-19, including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Interior in advance. Please be noted that, the implementation of the Green Travel Bubble is to facilitate the travel barriers for the international passengers in entering into Cambodia as well as to build trust and disseminate about “Cambodia is one of the safest countries to visit”. Along with this, the implementation of the Green Travel Bubble will attract international tourist growths to visit Cambodia’s main tourist destinations especially to Siem Reap province, the capital of Phnom Penh, coastal areas, and to the provinces at the border of Cambodia – Thailand, Cambodia – Laos, and Cambodia – Vietnam, in sense of contributing to the recovery for Cambodian economic and tourism sectors during the Covid-19 crisis. Throughout the Green Travel Bubble, Cambodia will start preparing the pushing for the implementation, focusing mainly on international tourist attraction from the People Republic of China market, from Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Kingdom of Thailand, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
