Kamping Puoy Reservoir is a natural environmental tourist destination located in the western part of Battambang Province. It was really built by human labor during the Pol Pot Regime. The tourist destination is in Tangen and Anlong Svay Village, Takream Commune, Banan District. It takes 45 minutes to 1 hour for visitors to travel to the area from Battambang Town on National Road #57 and National Road #5.
Kamping Puoy is the name of a weed which can be used as food. The tourist destination is the location of an event that occurred during Pol Pot’s genocidal regime. This great dam was built by tens of thousands of Cambodian people using hoes and two-handled baskets. Most of the constructors died during the Pol Pot regime.
Kamping Puoy is located in Tangen Village, Takream Commune, and Banan District and has an area of 6,000m x 1,900m. It can store 110,000,000m3 (one hundred and ten million cubic meters) water of in the rainy season, and is a water source for agriculture. The location and views of this reservoir are wonderful, with a majestic size, surrounded by mountains where visitors can boat, fish and swim. If that weren’t enough, visitors can [also] rest, eat and enjoy the fresh air. The water flows in all seasons through the two water gates on the dam.
