Ministry of Tourism Thanks 7th Committee of the National Assembly for Supporting Roadmap on Cambodian Tourism Recovery and Promotion Plan in the Period and After COVID-19 Crisis and Siem Reap Provincial Tourism Development Master Plan 2021 – 2035

(Phnom Penh): H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, issued a letter of thanks to the National Assembly Committee on Education, Youth, Sports, Cult, Religious Affairs, Culture and Tourism (7th Committee) which commended and high valued for the ministry of tourism’s efforts, as a staff of the Royal Government in compiling the two major strategic documents include: Roadmap on Cambodian Tourism Recovery and Promotion Plan in the Period and After COVID-19 Crisis and Siem Reap Provincial Tourism Development Master Plan 2021 – 2035.

H.E. Thong Khon thanked H.E. Hun Many, Chairman of the 7th Committee of the National Assembly for previously supporting on Cambodian tourism development – in particular he provided good key recommendations which are as significant inputs in serving for this roadmap document preparation.

Please be noted that on August 13, 2020, on the occasion of the official meeting between the 7th Committee of the National Assembly and the Ministry of Tourism on “measures which are solutions to tourism sector in the context of COVID-19 and Post COVID-19”, at the National Assembly building, H.E. Hun Many, Chairman of the 7th Committee, gave a number of recommendations, as inputs including:

  • Need to ensure standards of protection for citizens as well as local and international tourists.
  • Continue to promote the movement of domestic tourists and intra-tourists.
  • Collaborate closely with the international communities, especially in developing the “Travel Bubble” project with regional countries.
  • To restore and promote tourism is required the use of a “Participatory Approach” that requires “joint thinking, joint action and shared responsibility” from all stakeholders.

The two documents prepared by the ministry of tourism include: “Road-map on Cambodian Tourism Rehabilitation and Promotional Plan in the period and after COVID-19 Crisis” and “Siem Reap Provincial Tourism Development Master Plan 2021 – 2035”, as a long – term development strategy, to be approved by the Royal Government on March 30, 2021.
