Battambang provincial authorities still resume developing and decorating the banks of Sangke River to become a tourist destination in its provincial town, and to compete in the 2021 clean city competition

Despite of having the facing challenges posed by Covid-19 outbreak have been plaguing the world and especially Cambodia and have been impacting on this province, the development plans in Battambang are being gradually resumed and prepared both in the city and in the rural areas throughout the province. In particular, some essential social and physical infrastructures which are necessary and serving the livelihood of the people in the whole province.

 Obviously, on the morning of June 15, 2021, the authorities of Battambang Provincial Administration continued to develop the banks of the Sangker River between the Samdech Techo Sen stone bridge and the new stone bridge “13 Makara” in front of Battambang Provincial Hall in the aims at getting ready for the upcoming Clean City Competition 2021 and what to be more focused is that the authorities of Battambang administration have wanted to turn the banks of Sangke River in the provincial town of Battambang into an attractive tourism serving area in its province after the construction project is completely completed in the early year of 2022 to come.

His Excellency Soeum Bunrith, Deputy Governor of Battambang province, emphasized that: with participation from the private sectors together with the provincial administration have continued developing the banks of Sangke River in order to increase the beauty in the city, as well as to compete in the 2021 clean city competition, and to attract further national and international tourists to visit to the province, and to increase further incomes for the people in the province as well.  Such addressing was made during the groundbreaking ceremony for Sangke River bank under the presidency of H.E. Nguon Rattanak, Governor of Battambang province and Mr. Oknha Heng Tola, the investor in the construction of the river bank on the morning of June 15, 2021. The Sangker River banks need to be improved on both the west and east coasts, which totally are more than 200 meters, Soeum Bunrith added. And the construction is really served a lot for the public, of which such as: help preventing riverbanks from collapsing, when floods occur, there are always landslides.  

H.E. Deputy Governor added that: the preparation of Sangke River banks is included: there is the preparation of Verandas, enabling the national and international tourists and the people in Battambang city to play sports, to take exercises, and additionally to help increase the beauty in the Battambang city, as well as to be ready for 2021 clean city competition.

Separately, Oknha Heng Tola, the owner of the investment project and donated his own money to build the banks of the Sangker River on both sides, located between Sandech Techo HUN SEN stone bridge and 13 Makara new stone bridge in front of Battambang city hall, with the length of more than 200 meters, said that this is the contribution to developing the Sangke River bank serving  for better and greater tourism in Battambang province, and to be as an attractive site in attracting more and more tourists to visit to the province. Oknha emphasized that the project of constructing the river bank which will be done: by on the east bank needed to be constructed a concrete wall in order to help preventing the flooding; and on the west side, the layers of concrete walls with grass needed to be constructed for the sake of tourists who want to take a boat are able to get down through this place, and in the river, there are colored lights and water spray, sprayed from the middle of the river too.
