In Line with Samdech Techo’s Recommendation! HE Minister of Tourism Added Tourism Development Strategy for Inclusive Growth

(Phnom Penh): In adherence to recommendation of Samdech Techo HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, illustrated in a congratulatory message for the World Tourism Day 2021, on the September 22, 2021, HE THONG Khon, Minister of Tourism, announced to put out additional tourism development strategies to attract an inclusive tourism growth. Those additional implementing strategies include:

First: Tour operators, tourism communities are to drive all staffs who are serving in to get vaccinated in line with recommendation of Samdech Techo Prime Minister as well as need to resume strengthening cooperation with the health officers, and the capital-provincial tourism departments are to continue strengthening the implementation of the additional safety and sanitation rules in order to contribute to combating against the pandemic of COVID-19 forward to building up “Confidence and Reliability” from national and foreign tourists which is a core of re-launching of tourism sector, in particular to get a reputation “Safe Cambodia”.

Second: Capital – provincial tourism departments are to cooperate with relevant authorities in motivating and facilitating the private sectors, youths, and national – international development partners to take part in creating and supplying more variety tourism services throughout the creation of the youths and business program in tourism, newly establishing promotion program, and the cultural, traditional urban and rural tourism innovation as well as raising awareness and capacity building on digital tourism to the local level under facilitation and leadership by the ministry of tourism and under collaboration by the World Tourism Organization, international communities and development partners.

Third: All of development partners who are contributing in Cambodian tourism development are to cooperate with the local authorities, tourism communities, and relevant parties, in particular the vulnerability, women, ethnic minorities and youths under pointing out by provincial tourism departments, and the contribution to highly effective implementation of Samdech Techo HUN SEN’s recommendations.

Fourth: The tourism departments are to cooperate with relevant parties in organizing and training additional skills and newly skills on youths, particularly the ethnic minorities, women and people with disability to get access to equal benefits and opportunity in accordance with sustainable tourism skills development mechanism.

Please be noted that, the announcement of putting out above additional strategies was conducted on the occasion of celebration of the 41st World Tourism Day 2021 under the theme “Tourism for Inclusive Growth”, on September 27, 2021, which was hybrid held, with direct participation from the ministry tourism’s leaders, at the office of the ministry of tourism, with about 40 participants and participated via online for concerning institutions, ministries, private sectors and the capital – provincial tourism departments which are in total of 200 in line with health and safety measures.
