His Excellency Sok Lou received a courtesy call and discussed works with a delegation of the French Agency for Development in Cambodia and a delegation of the European Union

On Tuesday morning of 23rd November 2021, H.E. Sok Lou, Governor of the Battambang Provincial Board of Governors, received a courtesy call with a delegation of the French Agency for Development to Cambodia, led by Mrs. BOURHIS Ophelie, Country Director in Cambodia, and with a delegation of the European Union, led by Mr. Bryan FORNARI, Cooperation Director of the European Union, and with participation from a delegation from the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, led by HE Chan Yutha, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology,  a delegation from the Ministry of Economy and Finance to discuss various projects for development in Battambang province.

At that time, H.E. Sok Lou thanked the AFD delegation as well as the EU delegation and H.E. Chan Yutha, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology for spending valuable time paying a courtesy call, as well as discussing various development projects in Battambang province.

H.E. Sok Lou said that Battambang province is a province having potentiality on the agricultural and tourism sectors with a maze of irrigation systems making the cultivation of agricultural crops in the province with good yields, and especially the construction of the Sala Ta On Dam, which will be soon completed,  which it can hold the water of Stung Sangke to the desired level, and will help to enhance the beauty of Stung Sangke, and the beauty of Battambang city to be more beautiful, and the tourism areas have a number of ancient buildings with beautiful design and are attractive to the national and international tourists.

Mrs. BOURHIS Ophelie, Cambodia Country Director, thanked the provincial authorities for making efforts in conserving the Tonle Sap Lake, a huge lake, being rich in numerous fishes, and participating in the development of the provincial agricultural sector to be prosperous from day to day.

The projects that the French Agency for Development is today operating are focused on agriculture, climate change, and the provincial water system management, she added. She said, adding that if having the supports from the provincial administration, the French Agency for Development would conduct the study on methodologies in relieving the flooding in Battambang city happening every year when the water of Stung Sanke reaches a high level in order to reduce the flooding in Battambang city.
