(Phnom Penh): Under the framework of the Tourism Commercial Capacity Building Program (TCBP), the ministry of tourism, in the evening of December 22, 2021, in collaboration with French Development Agency (AFD), organized a Dissemination Workshop on Supporting Activities to Promote Internal Tourism and Reopening for International Tourism.
The workshop was conducted under patronage by H.E. Tith Chantha, Acting Secretary of State and high representative to H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, and there was the participation of Ms. Ok Malika, representative of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Cambodia, to be held at the office of the ministry of tourism through direct participation and online (Hybrid), and there was participation from representatives of the related ministries – institutions, sub-national administration, private sector in tourism, local and international consulting firms, and national and international organizations which around 60 participants directly participated, and other 450 online participated.
The dissemination workshop presented some crucial activities, including: (1). Updating the inventory of tourism sites and tourism facilities in Cambodia, (2). Food and ecotourism promotion campaign for the local tourist market, (3). Promoting Cambodia tourism as a food tourist destination and promotional materials, (4). Reviewing trademark identity and digital campaign for Cambodian tourism to international tourism markets and capacity building training activities and (5). Khmer food tasting videos and activities to promote Khmer food taste.
Addressed in that time, H.E. Tith Chantha stressed that with the rapid progress of new technologies, internet networks, and modernity of the social media as well as other digital media, digital marketing provided convenience to reviewing and effective following of promotional activities as well as enabling to link closely connection with easily target market sources in real-time.
Tith Chantha also requested the attention paid in strengthening additional promotion by having clear plans in digitalization, need to make a comprehensive assessment on changing of attitude and demand of the national and international tourists, have to know how to use attractive new creativity on design, the usage of images videos, description, and the use of digital nurseries.
He added further that, with this the further attention needed to be paid to the human resource training on digital marketing, related skills to ensure that all of the related parties are knowledgeable and enough qualified in using technology and needy digital tools which have been potential in tourism.
Please be noted that at the end of the workshop, His Excellency Tith Chantha also handed over a Book of Inventory of Tourism Sites in Cambodia to the representatives in the private sector in tourism.
