Cambodia – Indonesia Eye Opportunity in Connecting Direct Flight with Each Other

(Preah Sihanouk): During the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2022 at Preah Sihanouk province, on the morning of January 18, 2022, His Excellency THONG Khon, Cambodian Minister of Tourism, and Mr. Sandiaga Salahudin Uno, Minister of Tourism and Innovative Economy of Indonesia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tourism Cooperation, especially was to advance the connectivity of direct flight between the two countries.

The MoU signing was also attended via video conference as testimony by the Indonesian delegation leader, with also the presence of Mrs. Verna Emeralda C. Buensuceso.

The Memorandum of Understanding on Cambodia – Indonesia Tourism Cooperation was aimed to strengthen a deeper Cambodia – Indonesia tourism cooperation, and to join all-together in rapidly restoring tourism sectors between the two countries.

The Memorandum of Understanding was focused on:  

  1. Joining altogether in promoting and marketing in regional and international level – tourism exhibitions.
  2. Exchanging experiences in planning and managing tourist destinations.
  3. Boosting and encouraging the private sector to invest in tourism industries.
  4. Assisting mutually on human resources development and capacity building to experts.
  5. Advancing cooperation on the organization of tourism events, conference, tourism exhibition, and other meetings.
  6. Urging the direct flight connectivity between the two countries.

Indonesian Minister Sandiaga Salahudin Uno has also praised Cambodia for putting out and carrying out effectively and leading Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and safety measures amongst all ASEAN member nations.

Please be noted that, as the host of the ASEAN Tourism Forum next year, Indonesia will organize an event namely Indonesia Night, on the night of January 19, 2022, at the Prince Time Hotel, Sihanoukville, with about 250 participants.
