(Vietnam): His Excellency Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, led the ministry of tourism’s delegations along with artists and private companies, a total of about 100 participants to take part in the International Travel Expo 2022, called ITE HCMC 2022, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to increase the promotion of Cambodian tourist destinations towards attracting additional tourists to visit Cambodia.
The International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City 2022 will be conducted from 6th – 11st September 2022 with participation from over 300 booths of international companies, media, and international buyers of approximately 150 coming from over 50 countries in the region and around the world in order to boost broadly the promotion of common tourist destinations, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, as well as other countries in ASEAN region, which has been shared cooperation in reopening to international tourists.
September 8th, 2022 is the ribbon-cutting day for the official opening of the International Travel Expo (ITE HCMC 2022), and after the ribbon-cutting ceremony, there will be a VIP Tour to visit the booths of each country that participated in this exhibition, of which Cambodian booth was also visited. Mr. Prak Vuthy, Director of the Department of Overseas Tourism Marketing and Promotion of the Ministry of Tourism, said that for Cambodia, besides promoting whole tourist destinations, there were also the promotion of MICE and the promotion of “Cambodia as Sports Tourist Destination”, throughout SEA Game 2023, ASEAN Para Games and ASEAN Youth Games 2029, which will be hosted by Cambodia.
Prak Vuthy continued that this is the 16ht times that Cambodia participated in the International Travel Expo in Vietnam which has the booths of the Kingdom of Cambodia, to be decorated and styled at Morodok Techo National Stadium for the purpose of promoting the 2023 SEA Games and Cambodia’s major tourist destinations, with the participation of 12 companies (Co-Exhibitors) to provide information and promote the sale of its tour packages with direct customers.
He said, adding that at Cambodia’s booth, there were art performances performed for welcoming and the provision of souvenirs to all senior delegations visiting the Cambodian booth, along with photos taken with Cambodian artists as well. In Cambodia’s booth, there were spot videos played to show the main Cambodian tourist destinations and dance performances done daily for guests, and for private sectors having 12 companies, there has been a date with media partners and sale Cambodian tour packages to Vietnamese tourists and international tourists from nations in the region and the world.
The director of the department expressed optimism that through the above events, the Ministry of Tourism expects that Cambodia will be able to attract more Vietnamese tourists and investors to visit Cambodia in 2022-2023, which is the recovery phase of the Cambodian tourism sector.
