CLMV Tourism Ministers Resume Strategy of “Four Nations, One Destination” to Boost Regional Tourist Growth

(Siem Reap): Ministers of Tourism of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam, called CLMV approved an action plan to strengthen CLMV tourism cooperation 2023 – 2025 focusing on the strategy “4 Nations, One Destination” to boost more regional tourist growths.

The endorsement came in the 6th CLMV Tourism Ministerial Meeting, in the afternoon of November 3rd, 2022, at Siem Reap province, chaired by HER Excellency Suanesavanh Vignaket, Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism of Laos, and participated by His Excellency Thong Khon, Cambodian Minister of Tourism, His Excellency Htay Aung, Minister of Hotel of Myanmar, His Excellency Doan Van Viet, Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam.

The 6th Meeting of Cambodia – Laos – Myanmar – Vietnam Ministers of Tourism was held on November 3rd, 2022, at Siem Reap province, which was attended by the Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism of Laos, the Cambodian Minister of Tourism, and Vice Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Vietnam.

At that time, the meeting praised Samdech Techo HUN SEN, Cambodian Prime Minister, for a meaningful welcoming message. The ministers commended actively in-depth vision on the tourism sector of the CLMV and pledged to implement the recommendations, to be included in CLMV Tourism Action Plan 2023 – 2025.

CLMV Tourism Ministers reviewed the CLMV tourism cooperation in compliance with the Action Plan on CLMV Tourism Cooperation 2019 – 2021, adapted in the 5th CLMV Tourism Ministerial Meeting, at Chiang Rai province of Thailand, in reference to the 10th CLMV Summit 2020. The meeting underscored the outcomes of cooperation in the fields of travel facilitation, capacity building, the private and local community participation as well as collaboration with other countries, development partners, and international financial institutions.

CLMV Ministers of Tourism noted with satisfaction for recovery of the arrivals of international tourists by during the 09 months of 2022, the CLMV received 3, 933, 478 international tourists. The numbers of domestic tourists in the region were 604, 868, equivalent to 15.77% of total international tourists.

The meeting praised the related authorities and tour agencies, and the Ministries of Tourism of CLMV for making great efforts in forming the CLV-DTA Tourism Development Plan 2020 -2025 and Vision forward to 2030, to be enacted in the 11th CLV Summit on Triangle Development, on last November 09th, 2022 via video-conference.

CLMV Ministers of Tourism enacted the Action Plan on CLMV Tourism Cooperation 2023 – 2025 by continuing to focus on the promotion of “04 Nations, One Destination”, covering: (1) Travel Facilitation, (2) Capacity Building, (3) Private and Local Community Participation, (4) Third Party Cooperation, and (5) Ensuring for Sustainable and Responsible Tourism.

The meeting also approved Joint Declaration on the 6th Cambodia – Laos – Myanmar – Vietnam Tourism Ministerial Meeting. The CLMV Tourism Ministers commended and thanked Cambodia for hosting the 6th CLMV Tourism Ministerial Meeting and the 5th ACMECS Tourism Ministerial Meeting. Please be noted that the 7th CLMV Senior Officials Meeting and CLMV Tourism Ministerial Meeting will be held in Myanmar in 2024.
