Cambodia Organizes CAMFOOD/CAMHOTEL’22 and CAMBUILD’22 Event to Boost Cambodian Tourism Sector

(Phnom Penh): Tourism Federation of Cambodia initiated to hold CAMFOOD/CAMHOTEL’22 and CAMBUILD’22 event to contribute to boosting the national tourism sector as well as promoting the tourists’ visit to Cambodia, and getting the taste of Cambodian foods as well.

This exhibition was done on the morning of 16th – 18th November 2022, at Koh Pich Exhibition and Convention Hall, the capital of Phnom Penh. The inauguration ceremony was conducted under the presidency of His Excellency Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, together with His Excellency Leang Monirith, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction; and Mr. Lou Meng, President of the Tourism Federation of Cambodia.

The exhibition was sponsored by the main institutions, including the Hotel Association of Cambodia, the Restaurant Association of Cambodia, the Chef Association of Cambodia, the Food Institute of Cambodia, and the Board of Architects of Cambodia.

Mr. DARREN SLOW, the manager and program organizer, said that the coming back of the CAMFOOD/CAMHOTEL’22 and CAMBUILD’22 event this year is a strong sign of Cambodian national economic recovery after 2 years of the Covid-19 crisis.

He continued that this event has been yearly held since 2009, but unfortunately due to the outbreak of Covid-19 disease, it had been suspended for 02 years (2020 – 2021). The coming back of this event in 2022 has been seen as a positive sign of recovery in the tourism industry.

Mr. Lou Meng said that the CAMFOOD/CAMHOTEL’22 and CAMBUILD’22 has been widely recognized as the biggest international scaled-exhibition in Cambodia for food, hotel, hospitality, and construction industry sectors, and received support from over 250 national and international supplying companies in participation to display related products and services, and expected to attract over 10, 000 visitors during 3 days.

Mr. Lou Meng added that in addition to this exhibition, in collaboration with the Cambodian Hotel Association, set up a job search forum for the hospitality sector as well as bedding design competitions and flower arrangements and workshops to share new techniques in the field of coffee, management, hospitality, and construction, organized by many experts. On that occasion, H.E. Minister Thong Khon said that the organization of CAMFOOD/CAMHOTEL’22 and CAMBUILD’22 is at the same time as Cambodia sets 2022 as the first year of the recovery of tourism in Cambodia after the Covid -19 crisis, and is also a stage of rehabilitation of Cambodia’s tourism sector.
