(Tokyo): His Excellency Thong khon, Minister of the Ministry of Tourism, led delegations as civil servants, artists, Bokator groups, and musicians to participate in Cambodia Festival 2019 in Tokyo, Japan in the aims to advertise and enhance arts, cultures, tourism sector, and the reputation of Cambodia in Japan, as well as forwarding to boost further Cambodian tourism potential advertisement.
The Cambodia Festival was held from 03 – 04 May, 2019 with the collaboration from Cambodian embassy to Japan, Khmer association in Japan, in which Khmer dancing and Khmer Bokator were performed, and Khmer songs were sung by Dark Storm Band, and many other Khmer singers, along with Khmer food and cultural and tourism exhibitions which are in total of 250 booths, with over 100, 000 participants. The Cambodia Festival 2019 was inaugurated under presidency of H.E Thong Khon and with the presences of Mr. Kenji YAMADA, Vice minister of the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Mr. Masahiro Imamura, President of Japan – Cambodia Friendship Alliance, Mr. Ong Rattana, Cambodian ambassador to Japan, Mr. Fumiaki TAKAHASHI, former Japanese ambassador to Cambodia, Mr. Yuji Kumamaru, former Japanese ambassador to Cambodia, representatives of embassies of ASEAN member nations, citizens, students, Khmer students, and many Japanese friends. This festival was conducted annually since 2015, and the Ministry of Tourism has also attended every years. Should note that the year of 2019 is the 66th Anniversary of Japan – Cambodia diplomatic relations – especially at the same time the coronation of King NARUHITO, Emperor of Japan, had crowned on May 01, 2019. To continue Cambodia tourism advertisement on Japanese market, as well as strengthening Cambodia – Japan friendship, the ministry of tourism to participate in JATA Travel Showcase, to prepare Cambodia Tourism Roadshow to be held from 24 – 27 October 2019 in Osaka, Japan.
